Eco Print & Monoprint

This series of prints explores the naturally occurring cyclical repetition of nature and women’s bodies; and why they seem problematic to the patriarchy which continues to suppress and defile these ‘unknowable bodies.’

Each medallion combines commitment to aesthetics, precision and innovation and are an intervention into the patriarchal paradigm; here feminism intersects with society, ecology, the cosmos in their need for understanding. It blows out the water the idea of what a print should be.

These prints are different and handmade and all combine print processes. The central apertures relate directly to the circular Eco-Prints that they pierce. Eco Printing combines 250gsm cotton rag paper that is in tight, direct contact with natural flora – plants, leaves, buds, seeds – using heat and water to release pigment. The central part of each of the fifteen medallions used traditional Monoprinting techniques.

Work began on this body of work  in July 2024 following a personal health scare and it questions why the representation of certain female body parts are underrepresented in Art.
