LINES OF LOSS series explores memory and postmemory.

This is a Double plate Print. Plate one is a traditional sugar-lift etching and the coloured plate is a photo etching,

Plate one – is a traditional sugar-lift etching. The lines and pattern was achieved by immersion in an acid bath.  This (now bevelled plate) was inked using the Intaglio method in black oil-based ink.

Plate two – a vintage photograph was transformed using Photoshop BITMAP at 280dpi.  This was cropped and exposed onto a ready-polymer-coated Solar plate using sunlight. This method is totally non-toxic. This plate was bevelled then inked using the Intaglio inking method using oil-based ink.

This is a Triple Plate Print.  Plate one is a photo-manipulated image which transformed the original family snap into a swirling blur which is open to different interpretations – much like our memory of events long ago in the past.  This has been printed in silver (referencing the silver halide used in analogue photography).

The second plate which is superimposed over plate one is a soft pencil drawing which was drawn from memory with the original removed; here inked in a soft grey tone.

Finally the third plate is a dry point etching achieved using a craft knife onto plexiglass plate and inked in red and layered over the previous two plates.
