A new print (July 2019) that has been inspired by my previous Print installation called Diss Miss.

Here examined is a stomach which has too much fat compared to the flat stomach seen on ads and billboards – who hasn’t felt their folds of fat to estimate how much more than ideal we are?

“When making this work (Diss Miss) I was thinking about the relationship we have with our bodies and how some people are unable to see their own body as others see them.

There is an anxiety disorder that causes a person to have a distorted view of how they look and to spend a lot of time worrying about their appearance.

There are many cases of, what is called, body dysmorphia and it is becoming more prevalent amongst young girls, in particular, who, when bombarded with images of ‘perfect’ bodies online and in the media, regard their own ‘normal’ bodies as imperfect or gross.

Here examined is a breast which is cradled; to assess health or to estimate how much should be added or taken away by the surgeon’s scalpel.

Under examination in this print, is a bottom which is gripped by hand to find out whether it is either too big, or too smalled; or just not right in shape or texture.
